so whats the real value of the car?

IMO: Whatever the parts are worth. The crowbar hotel reservation just isn't worth it.

I remember a few years back, Mecum sold a phony hemi cuda and then after it was proved fake, bought it back from the buyer.  It was at a later auction where the car was back, this time the VIN and fender tags removed being sold on a bill of sale only.
I wonder if a car like that could be registered with an assigned VIN from the state?
