So what is the real story on them?  I was led to believe that when I bought mine back in the early 1990s (late 1980s?)

I bought mine around the same time....I'm not certain, but the 71 Cuda above is drawn with BF Goodrich tires on it...that should be a clue...

Maybe you're right Vlad.
I'll admit when I'm wrong :headbang:  but I still don't buy the story. Why on earth would Chrysler in the 90's want anything to do with the cars from their past ?
Why were these prints available EVERYWHERE in the 90's and on EBay everyday since then?

Here is the EBay sellers explanation .... He seems to know exactly what there are :bigthumb:

Hello, These prints are the originals from their 1 & only limited printing production run. They were commissioned & produced by Chrysler Corporation's Marketing department in 1990-1991, as a one time special promotion.

They did 54 different prints in total. 3 different artists drew them from owner's cars at shows like the Mopar Nationals, Carlisle & private collections. Several of the prints show cars with the Radial T/A's since this was again in 1990-91

1 set was given to each dealerships for display, others given as gifts to retiring employees, company executives & VIP guests at their Auburn Michigan headquarters. There was also a way to get them through their Mopar Parts Division.

Several years later, I saw a set & recognized their uniqueness & high quality. Chrysler used the highest quality heavy-weight art board paper, similar but thicker than used in birthday greeting cards. I negotiated & purchased their remaining inventory through Chrysler's director of marketing with permission to release them.

Chrysler packaged them in Pentastar folders & I also have the original boxes they came in from the printer Chrysler used for their Dealer Brochures. I attached some photos & I also have the photos of the original artist master drawings the printers used.

:dunno:  Such a "rare" item sounds like a bargain when you can sell four of them for $23  :bigmoney:

I don't profess to be right -- only that I heard the same story you did back in the day.

Some of the cars pictured were also in the Direct Connection/Mopar Performance catalogs of the era (the red shaker Challenger 'vert comes to mind), so maybe there was some legitimacy to a Chrysler corporate connection

However, other than the pentastar on the envelope, there are no other markings that would indicate it was a genuine Chrysler or Chrysler sanctioned package.

Still a neat piece(s) though...

Its plausible.  1990-91 is when Darrell Alderman won back to back Pro Stock championships in a Dodge. Direct Connection changed to Mopar Performance in 1991.  1992 (IIRC, bit fuzzy here) is when the crate Hemi program was released.  There were a number of factors creating some momentum and nostalgia at the time.

I do agree with how rare is rare if they are only $22.75 each.

If I'm reading the ad right, you get all four pictured for $22.75 :bigmoney:
