Body in bad shape, damaged/missing components. What would it cost to bring this one back to like new? Wants 30K, but no bids yet for half that.

Rich G.

Doing it yourself I'd say at least 40-50K. And that's just what's there. Who knows what is missing. I've been there before! It adds up quicker then you think.

$90k to pay some one to do the bodywork and paint it and you do the rest. If you do the paint and body at least $60k. I did 2 Challengers complete within the last 5 years. When a car needs everything like this one does you will always come out upside down. Car will be worth around $80k when done if you make sure you do a nice job on it. I would imagine if there are any parts there that they would be in the same condition the hull is.

Yup...these numbers are more realistic...Just in parts alone is likely $30K :alan2cents:

I think you would have $130K invested in an $80K car :dunno:

Yes, It's a great combination though. You have to do it for the love of it.

:iagree:  It would be a car that would need to be saved because you love it, not because you think you can make money on it.

Couldn't be said better than that.

Not too mention the hours, figure 12-1500 would be my guess!

The only problem with a project like this is the entry price. The only person a restoration makes sense for, would be the current owner...There are a lot of members on here building Challengers with extensive rust...some of those cars are lesser cars like 318 cars or 383 RTs even, if they could have started with a TA like this one for the same entry price, they would be further ahead at the end of the day...I'm not saying this TA doesn't hold value as is, but that's likely why it will never get the restoration it deserves ....people with all  the "LOVE" don't have the money, and the people with the money rather start with a better car :alan2cents:
