Upcoming Lot @ Copart in St. Louis, MO:
1970 Dodge Challenger R/T with extensive front-end damage...  :o

First thought: I hope the occupants were ok
Second thought: How much effort does it take to bring this Challenger back on the road?   :tool: :bigmoney:

Ouch! It is possible, sure but does it make sense  economically? Not so sure.... lots of hidden damage besides what you can see, floor,  rockers, firewall etc....  :bye:

Oh this is a complete basket case. They value it at 45k? huh?

That frame is so bent you can make a teeter totter out of it.

Parts car at best now unless you want to throw ungodly sums of money at it.

The JS23V nature of the car makes it easily a 6 figure car in a completed state.  I have to think it would take $50-75K to bring that car back.  Might be a good investment for someone.

Definitely needs some frame & body work, and a visual inspection with verification of fender tag would be useful. But I'd think it's definitely resurrect-able for a reasonable (low) price. It has a lot going for it but downside is it will always carry a salvage title (I assume).

A day on the frame rack, a front clip and some paint = good as new!   :twothumbsup:  Ok, it isn`t that easy but very fixable with a frame machine and all the metal available now. Being a V code it should be worth it to someone.

Nobody who's not skilled enough to do the work themselves would get out of this car without being badly upside down IMHO. If the vehicle is valued at $42k, unless you got laid in it's back seat, why take on what'll end up being a $50+ repair? They're charging $20-30k for a paint job in places and this thing needs a front, lft frt suspension, frame rail, w/s and likely cowl repairs as well. Caveat emptor!  :bye:

I'm not that familiar with COPART, are you saying that what they have valued it at is the minimum they would take (a $42k reserve)? If so then I'd probably agree with you. But I don't think that is the case, maybe someone can confirm?? My assumption is that possibly someone will pick this up for $10k-$20k

I see clutch pedals and a pistol grip.  I'm suprised no one has information on who owned it, how it hit the wall, etc.
Copart is pretty simple,  top bid once it goes live. Plus fees.
You won't know about any insurance company reserves,  until it goes live.
As far as repair,  quick pull on the rack, and new front clip.  Been there, done that, back when these were no where near as valuable. I can pull up pictures of several with the front gone, then back on.
At least you can get a new cowl now, instead of having to harvest a used one.

Yea it's fixable, but not cheap ... you would want to get it for next to nothing to make the adventure worth while :alan2cents:

"Cheap"    :haha:  :haha:  :haha:  I've seen so much of this at COPART over the years. Cars hit hard/burned/bare bones theft recovery. And every time I watch them, they go waaaaay over what I could pay and come out sunny side up. But what do I know, i only deal in late model.  :rofl:  :rofl:  :rofl:   Now excuse me., I need to get some bids in this morning

That had to hurt a bit getting flung into the steering wheel hard enough to twist the column like that.  :(

If they were wearing the shoulder harness it should have prevented that, I don`t see the typical bullseye in the windshield if the driver went forward. It might just be the angle of the whole column as the whole nose is swayed over.

You may be right.  Weren't the steering columns collapsible to some extent to make them safer when someone flew into it during an accident?  That one doesn't look collapsed at all.
