Hi Everyone,

Looking to replace a starter on my 1970 440 RT/SE. I'm trying to find the correct part number, can anyone tell me if this part number is correct? 2875553

Thanks
Mike

The part number and the casting number might be slightly off, but the part number in the book shows 287 5560.  I would have to look at some of my castings to see what the casting number is.  Looks for the "date wheel" too and you'll be able to see what year the starter is.  The date wheel will have a 2 digit number in the center (70 for 1970) and it will have dots in the pie.  Those dots are weeks and the pie is months.  If you want a date code correct, you'll want to find a starter a few weeks to a few months before your car was built.

Hi,

The starter on my car is a rebuild from Mexico, would like to get an oem and have it rebuilt or find one already rebuilt. So far I found a 2875553 with a correct date code, it will have to be rebuilt. Just want to make sure she's the right one.

thanks, you guys are great... AND quick. :perfect10:
