Well no, probably not the blinker fluid.   But I do have a problem with my left turn indicator on the speedometer. It worked last year and sometime during winter storage decided not to.  This is the green arrow on the dash.  The fender mounted indicator, valance (I think) and the tail light works correctly.  Everything on the RH side seems to work.  Is this telling me that something else is out or is the problem contained to the dash?  To be honest, I haven't verified the side markers or the valance recently.

Yeah, I know.  I was at work thinking about the problem and thought I'd ask in case it was an indication of something specific outside of the instrument cluster.  I'm not looking forward to pulling that out at the moment so I guess I'll check all the lights and carry on.

I already checked the blinker fluid and it is topped off.

been a few years but sure it only takes a few screws, 1/2 deep socket to lower the steering column a bit and your in... should be a couple beer project to re and re.

You don't need to take the dash out to change the light bulb :alan2cents:

No kidding, pretty easy especially if the car doesn't have A/C...

Nope, no AC.  Only the extra ventilation provided by the Swiss cheese floorboards.  It's currently up on stands to adjust the kick down and shifter rods, so I'll see if I can poke my head under and see what is what.

I thought I remembered on older cars like this, the interior turn signal would stop working when one of the tail lamps or other turn bulbs failed.  Maybe I'm mis-remembering.  My POS BMW constantly pops a message up on the dash display to check one or the other bulbs because the computer loses continuity to them.

What can happen if another bulb burns out is sometimes there isn't enough current flow to cause the flasher to operate but the dash bulb will still come on, it just won't blink....

gzig5

OK.  Got my head under there and I think I see the bulb holders on either side of the speedo cable.  Green wire on driver side brown wire on passenger.  How do they come out?  I pulled and twisted on the housing a little but it would budge and I don't want to break it.  This is the standard instrument cluster if that makes a difference.

Should pop right out, push slightly sideways & rearward on the socket...

Yep.. I guess a person could just give it the o'l blind reach around and pull the bulb socket out...  Been way too long since I've had one.
