Many of you guys are going to think this is nuts, maybe stupid, I dunno.. But I have been in to car audio since I was a kid. This Cuda is going to get a fairly intense stereo system. I want the stereo to be pretty low key, but I know it's impossible to hide everything given the limitations of the vehicle. The tweeter is the thing I am struggling with.. I can do the a-pillar molded pod, machined aluminum pods that bolt to the a-pillar or the worst option, but the one I am leaning towards.. Hole-saw a 1.75" hole in the dash pad next to the factory 3.5" speaker grill and mount the tweet flush in the dash next to the mid that will be under the grille. Anybody ever cut the vinyl / foam in the dash and not regret it afterwards? If everybody says don't do it, I will go with one of the alternatives involving the A-Pillar...

Any of you have full blown audio systems in your Cuda?

Here are some details about what I am stuffing in this car..

Head Unit: Alpine CDE-HD149BT
DSP: MiniDSP C-DSP 8x12 V2.0
Front Stage Amplifier: Arc Audio 1200.6
Front mid bass: Stereo Integrity TM65 MKIII 6.5" in kick panels
Front mid: Stereo Integrity M3 3" Mid in factory dash location
Front tweet: Stereo Integrity M25 Sunk in dash next to factory speaker location???
Subwoofer Amplifier: Arc Audio 1100.1
Subwoofer: Sundown SD3 12" in trunk....

I cut holes in the door panels of our old '70 'cuda for the mid-range and tweeters (had to relocate the 'cuda emblems) along with four ten inch woofers in the package tray mounted in particle board and it sounded Great!  Of course, that was 1980.  In another car I put a pair of small speakers under the dash near the center dash speaker opening but it didn't sound near as good.

four tens in the package tray? That's a tight fit! had to be pretty loud, for sure.

You're in Modesto eh? I used to cruise McHenry in this Cuda before it became a crime to cruise, I lived on Maserati Dr off of Coffee / Sylvan.. The Cuda was A5 silver back around 1986-1988 when I frequented McHenry with it...The Cuda never had much more than a pioneer head unit and a pair of 6x9's in the decklid... My first car was a Cobra Torino, I put an Alpine 7909, Fosgate OEQ1, Fosgate power 650 in it with four punch tens in the trunk and a set of morel mid / tweets in the doors. I miss that car and that stereo :)

So I got some little tweeter pods a guy in Germany machines for my particular tweets.. I will use these until I can find somebody to customize my a-pillar molding to house the tweeter in a more low key fashion...
