The one in the previous post illuminates the heater control panel. The described one, yellow w/black tracer as my schematic shows is the one that illuminates the 3 (or 4) switches when a door is opened and times out. It doesn't come on with any position of the headlight switch or what position the ignition switch is in. I have that light and just verified it works as I said.

That's the light I was referring to as you said avatar_Jay Bee @Jay Bee . Is that part of a courtesy light package or did all the cars have it. I also have a light in my glove box and ashtray.

avatar_340Challman @340Challman It's part of the light package. Oddly, my bare bones standard dash 1970 Barracuda didn't originally have the light package but it had the ashtray and glovebox lights like yours. However, it did have the under dash wiring and the time delay relay. Once spotting that I forged ahead to add the other components to complete the A01 option.

Have been chasing down a dead short on my 74 Challenger.   Part of the problem in lookingat the diagrams or the wires themselves is all the "extra wires".

74 had the dreaded seat belt interlock system...thats a lot of dead wires now.

Also, Ive removed the heater/air system and replaced with Vintage Air and that left all of the old wires laying around both at the controller spot as well as in dash for fans.

Lastly, i believe the factory left wires unatached for Options i dont have...such as the am/fm radio and rear defroster, etc.

Finally found my dead short...  there was a small harness laying on top of the radio rear support strap that eventually wore thru..  only way you could even see it was to remove the entire dash assembly.  what a pain.
