Hello!!

I had the standard 3 speaker system in the front dash (73 Cuda) I found out that one of the outer ones (Driver side) is not working and mostly like the passenger side crapped out too. Can I replace these by removing the top grill and pull out the speaker after I disconnect the leads and reinstall??? Thanks!!!

Pretty sure the speaker screws in from the bottom

Boy that would kinda suck there seems to be a metal frame that would need to come out on the driver's side. I have the instrument panel out already. Have not looked on the passenger side yet

GOOD NEWS for you @CudaJon ..I just confirmed with a dash assembly that I have here at my shop. When you remove the casted grill cover from the dash pad, the speaker comes out with it, so the speaker attaches to the grill, not the dash frame  I just removed one to confirm.

So I'm happy to say my first thought was wrong :drinkingbud: and the job should be easy for you  :ohyeah:

Alan - that is GREAT news. I was figuring that would be an bad design to do all that removal under the dash just to change out the speakers. Thank you very much! Just need to find an philips screwdriver small enough to fit.

Get a bit for a magnetic screw driver, it fit's into a 1/4" socket or wrench.  :alan2cents:

A 1/4 in ratcheting wrench or use your favorite search engine and look up "offset ratcheting screwdriver".  You will find a lot of sets out there ranging from about $6 on up depending on the number of bits they come with and if it is just one handle or more at different angles.

Thank you all - got out the two left/right.  It reminds me of a Dracula movie when you touch them it turns to dust... Any recommendations for  companies out there that produce repro ones that don't cost an arm and leg.

I asked this question of @usraptor just the other day.  Here iss his reply...

"I bought my speakers from S/M Electro-Tech, Inc. at http://www.turnswitch.com. The two small speakers are 3 1/2" Round Speakers and 4X10 Uni-FB speaker.  At  http://www.turnswitch.com/speakers.htm."

Hope this helps.
