BIGSHCLUNK

After yesterdays dead battery disaster.... Trickle charged the battery all night. Load tested, enuff to start the car - which it did without issue. Checked charging system at 2k rpm & at idle. Tester shows charging in both cases. Checked connections at alt & reg... clean & tight. What am I missing? Leary to go for a ride.  :notsure:  :soshelp:

If you had nothing at all at the key, could it be the main power wire going through the bulkhead ?
At the time, did you think to cross it at the starter relay ?
I've taught you everything you know....but I haven't taught you everything I know....

Tried crossing the relay - nothing .  Bulkhead connecter was new a year or two ago.

Battery cables in good shape? No " green death" Old battery? Bypass wire from alt to battery?   :notsure:

Cables relatively new - Roseville.   Got the itch to go for a ride, so I grabbed tools and the battery I stole from the shop. Went on maybe a 10 mile rum around the house. Never getting to far away. Shit her off 5X. Waited a few mins....  Fired up every time w/o issue. Hmmm :notsure: makes no sense to me

I had an oddball no start issue a while ago.  What mine turned out to be was a loose connector on the engine side of the main harness.  If it happens again, unplug it and see if any of the male blades are loose and everything is making good contact.  That was my problem.  I fixed the pin and added some dielectric grease and it's been good for a year now.

Mine wouldn't start a couple years ago and it turned out the screws that hold the ECU had come loose and wasn't grounding.

IF shorting the starter relay on the inner fender didn't crank it I would think Battery, Battery Cable, Cable Connections...
A few years ago I transferred a newish AGM battery that had been on a trickle charger into my Dad's Dakota. Truck started for several short trips around town then one day would not crank.... Recharged the battery & all was well for a few days then dead again... I assumed everything but a bad battery. After chasing my tail tying to diagnose for several weeks I changed the battery..... Problem solved....  :dunno:
