I need some help , converting to rallye gauges in a 71 Cuda

Hi All! Helping my buddy Mike install his  rallye gauges in his 71 Cuda and have a few questions. He had standard gauges. He has an original rallye harness and all the gauges. He has on the way from Roseville the electronic voltage limiter for the gauges.
We tried installing it and none of the gauges work. So we are assuming it's the voltage limiter ?
Will the stock oil pressure and coolant temp  sending units work or does rallye use different ones?
Hooking up the tack, he has a electronic MSD ignition box. What do I do, what goes where? Will he need this?

We will bolt the ammeter wires together, tape etc...  and bypass the gauge.
Any other tips I missed?

The temp & fuel ,will be the same sender , if the std gauges had a oil pressure light you will need a different sender , you can teast with 5v or briefly with a 9 v battery to power the gauges .
There is a tack connection on the MSD box , this may work but usually not , MSD sells an adapter to change the signal to one the tach can read

Oh and electrical is SO NOT my strong suit so I need "electrical for dummies" kind of help!  :haha:

The tach will not work with the MSD without an adapter. The mopar tach is a current type. The adapter is an 8920.
Or replace the guts of the tach. RTE sells an updated guts kit.

Great info Thanks! It's the newer MSD box if that matters for the  MSD 8920?  :notsure:

I'd initially confirm the tach works before springing for the tach adapter...You could still hook up the tach to the MSD and the reading will be off..But you'll know what you've got and the direction you're going from there..

I would check all the grounding points for the instrument cluster.
