What is the correct orientation of the defogger switch in the panel? Obviously the defogger motor has 2 speeds and switch has 3 settings. From the bottom with the switch down, that would off then one up would be low speed and one more up is high fan speed. My question is looking at the back of the switch, it can be inverted and installed either way but don't obviously want to install it upside down making "off" in the up position on the panel. I've attached a photo of how I have installed now but don't know if it's correct. The entire dash is out for a rewire so I can do a simple plug in and find out. Who knows the correct orientation of the defogger switch

I don't know if this helps but if you blow up the picture you can see the red dot on the switch is down in the off position.

No unfortunately that doesn't help much, my switch I purchased has a white dot on the toggle on both sides.

If I follow you correctly, in my original car, down is in the off position and up is on. Hope this helps. :alan2cents:

That's how I have it oriented and it works fine.  I use it to arm my line lock on Low and turn my fan on manually on High.

The easiest way to check this is to bust out the meter and check continuity....  You won't have continuity between the middle terminal and the others when it is in the off position, and the off position is with the toggle switch all the way down.  You flip it up for low and high.

Good call on that. I will check for continuity

You can use a meter, however, the circuit board has the word "TOP" on it.  FYI, you'll have a blue dot on a 70 switch a red dot on 71 and nothing on the 72-74 switch.

Geez, maybe I need to put my glasses on. Could it be that easy? I'll look again today and let you know
