Hello,

I'm working on my 73 Cuda 340 with the 727A transmission. I had the transmission rebuilt several years ago but have had issues with the starter falling out. Apparently the bolt hole on top is stripped out and the lower one may be stripping as well or the wrong hardware.

What size bolt is used for the starter so I can order a helicoil set for them? I'm assuming a helicoil is the best bet and plan on removing the starter, header, and hope I can get access to repair the threads.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Bottom hole had a stud from factory

Welcome to the site , I would run a helicoil into the holes , & replace the lower stud

Thanks everyone for the replies! Wow didn't realize the bottom hole was a stud, right now it has 2 bolts so I'll have to track down the right studs for the bottom hole to make it right again.

I'll look into a helicoil for 7/16 14 for the top hole.

Great info, I look forward to learning more as I restore my fathers Cuda to the day he bought it new!

We would love to know about your family heirloom.
Are you going to do a restoration thread?

Or a beginners/newbie thread so we can all say hi and see your ride.

Ask and you shall receive! https://forum.e-bodies.org/your-restoration-project-roseville-moparts/10/dads-73-cuda-340/14142/

I made a resto thread although not sure if it belongs being I'm not going down to the frame for the time being, but didn't want to crowd the newbie thread with pics. My car's got a long way to go but I'm hoping to at least get her drivable and slowly move forward with plans to improve it more and more.
