So, I've been trying to figure out why my dyno numbers were not higher based on what the dunnuck racing 440 dyno showed. (see link below)

Then I came across an article where a guy wanted to put all the rwhp to crank hp percentage myths to bed.  So he built his engine, then he dyno'd it at the crank.  Then installed it in his car, and dyno'd it again at the wheels to figure out once and for all how much power is actually lost through the drivetrain. (see link below)

Using his results of around 36% with an automatic transmission, I calculated my numbers again.  Using the 36% loss rate, my numbers finally make sense compared to the dunnuck racing 440.  Based on that engine, I originally calculated my 440 should be around 525hp/600tq with the higher compression and using the eddy performer RPM aluminum intake manifold.

I also found an article with dyno results of other 440's, and 335 at the wheels is actually pretty good! (see link below)

This makes it even more tempting to switch my auto out for a manual!

Dyno Results:

335 rwhp

375rwtq

Drivetrain Loss:

Auto Trans: Avg 36.4% loss

Man Trans: Avg 18.3% loss

Crank HP/TQ Calculations:

335rwhp = 526.7hp @ crank

375 rwtq = 589.6tq @ crank

MPH in the quarter mile is all I've ever been concerned with.

Thats next on my list, take it down the track!

Has anyone found the online 1/4mile calculators accurate?

With a weight of 3850lbs & 335 rwhp, mine came up as 13.2sec@109MPH.

Even wheel dynos are different a Dynojet will read 15% higher than a Mustang !
1/4 mile times can be more accurate depending on wheelspin often MPH is more accurate than ET

HP2

Altitude and humidity are also factors.  Your 335 hp big block at sea level will struggle to make  275-280 in Denver.
