Having a debate, what are all the components needed to convert an 8.75 rear to sure grip?

Bpret

Just did one. Just add a sure grip unit and you will need a crush collar or shim kit with gasket and pinion seal. As long as it was quite before. I did carrier bearings and axle bearings because I was in there.

There are various diffs to choose from. I went with and Eaton Tru-track. Sure grip is the stock type.
And of course you need to decide on the gear ratio that will work best for you. If you want a different ratio, now would be the time to do it.

The short answer is everything.
How is that a debate and with who ?
And as you have read it is a "sure-grip" Posi is a GM term.

If your current gears are good, no leaks or noise and you are happy with the ratio then you only need to change the  carrier and set the backlash.  Dr. diff sells the clutch style for $395. https://www.doctordiff.com/8-3-4-clutch-type-sure-grip-powr-lok.html

If you're going through the trouble, then rebuild the whole rear end in my opinion  :alan2cents:

Having a debate with someone after talking to them in general about changing my wife's Cuda to a sure grip. I thought it only needed the carrier and a few other items but they were trying to tell me there was a lot more to get. Thanks for all the answers. Yes, I do know it is a Sure Grip and Posi is a GM term, sorry I got caught up at the wrong time. Anyone have any used units in good shape? Not sure of the gears in it now. I think she is looking for a 3:55 or 3:73
