Anyone use Billet Specialties thermostat housing?

Well as I expected the fancy billet theromstat housing on the 440 started dripping.
It lasted about 6-7 heat cycles.
I'm not sure if this was a contributing factor but it started leaking right after I put a new 16lb. radiator cap on the car.
I had the housing milled flat and used a good gasket and sealer but I kinda figured it would leak sooner or later.

So I'm going to give plan B a try even though I see a factory type housing in my future......

In doing some research I've read mostly good reports on Billet Specialties straight billet housing with O ring.
I bought one from Amazon and it showed up yesterday.

I've never used an O ring type on an old mopar before, after looking at it I was expecting a little bigger O ring but maybe that's the way they are.
I tried calling Billet Specialties and asking their tech guy what I should torque the bolts to but he wasn't much help with any of my questions and just said make the bolts tight

So has anyone here used this or any type of O ring housing setup on an older Mopar?
I read somewhere that some people are still using a good sealer under the housing on the outside of the O ring? Is this correct?

I haven't used the billet specialties piece but I can tell you a small cross section O ring shouldn't have any problem if the surface of the waterpump where the O ring contacts is flat....  O rings are used in flanges with a groove in the hydraulic world all the time & they withstand 2000 PSI so 16 PSI shouldn't be an issue....

Did you use any other sealer with the housing or install it dry?

I use this one bought it in 2012. It hasn't leaked a drop.

I have been using these on all my motor builds. They work perfect! Probably at least 8 of them in the last 3 years. Zero issues. They are cast and not polished but match aluminum intakes pretty good or you can paint it. Nice thick base.  Price is excellent.

What gasket are you using with it? Any sealant?

If the billet Specialties doesn't work I will send it back and either get a stock one or something similar to that one.

Needs nothing. Just bolt it on. I don't like the gasket it comes with.  I use a parts store one. Stant maybe? They have a peel off on one side like a sticker with adhesive already on it. I put the T stat in the housing and stick the gasket to that. Holds T stat in place. Then I use a real thin film of sealant on the other side. No leaks or seeps.
