Hey all, I am looking for an engine dolly / stand for a big block Mopar similar to this one from Jegs or Summit.

Want to make it easy to store and transport - I have my 440 currently on a traditional engine stand, but need to get it over to the engine builder so looking for something easy to set it on the ground (other than my hillbilly option of a used tire!)

The one from Jegs seems reasonable and I can pick up some casters from Home Depot, hard to justify spending nearly 2x for the summit version, anyone have any experience with either or any other suggestions?

You can't buy happiness, but you can buy horsepower and that's kind of the same thing.....

I picked up a generic one from Eastwood that has heavy duty casters on it for moving it around.  Have had several big and small blocks on it and never had a problem.  I even strap the engines to it for putting them in the back of the truck for transporting them.  Never had an issue.
Contrary to the opinions of some, I am not dumber than I look.

Thanks avatar_erik70rt @erik70rt!!  Is this the one you are referring to?  I only see the one for SB & BB Chevy -

No, that's not it.  I'll try to grab a pic of it this weekend.

This one pictured is just one those Harbor Freight or Big Box store moving dollys.  They are typically rated to 1000 pounds  I have a 2x8 cut so that the edge rests on the oil pan rail.  The front and back pieces of 2-by are cut away to fit the front/rear of the engine block.  A couple screws have it connected to the dolly.  It rolls nicely.  I dont move it all the time.  Right now the small block that is on it awaits a new home.

I usually make my own out of 1" square tubing and weld casters on them. I do have a few of the Allstar stands also. They work good as well.

Mancini carries a really nice one, it's pricey but well designed and compact should you want to store an engine or long block under a workbench or whatever. I bought one to get my engine to and from my rebuilder, it was easy to load and unload it.

And yes, we added the missing bolt in the one pic right after that pic was taken  :-X

Actually no, we didn't, thankfully we were fine anyway.

Buy the lower cost version to get your start for a setup.
Then adapt as necessary to suit your needs.
Add to a furniture dolly. Add cross bracing or gussets as well to sturdy it up.
Life is to be viewed thru the windshield. Not rear view mirror.
You are the only one in charge of your destiny.

Mike.
