Crane iron rockers-anybody run into this before?

I've been setting valve lash for 30 years and have never had this happen. They look "holepunched"... Crane 1.6 ratio iron rockers, edelbrock heads, stock eddy valves, Crane shafts. I used these to replace some Crane aluminum race gold rockers, mainly because I don't trust the longevity of aluminum rockers for extended street use and these made it a little over a year. I noticed some bluing on top of the pushrods as well-could oiling have been a problem?

Lack of oil ,simply put !
I would check #4 cam brg make sure the oiling holes to the rocker shafts are not closed off with debris or a poorly installed bearing

And shaft oil hole orientation of course. Are the bushings okay? (I guess it doesn't matter)

RAU will resurface the tips for you, and re-bush them if needed.  They quoted me $12 each to surface the iron W2 rockers I have.

I'm thinking lack of oil as well but why? I removed these about 6 months ago and have since re-installed my Crane Gold's and everything has been fine so far. The aluminum gold arms are getting LOTS of oil-I did not verify this with the iron rocker setup(shame on me). I'm also using the same hardened rocker shafts for both sets of rockers-I spoke to Crane about this and they said it was fine. Needless to say, I'm nervous about buying another set but at the same time I don't feel good about sticking with the aluminum ones for the long haul. Thanks for the tips guys-I may do some investigating and look at other steel/iron rockers as well.

Ductile iron rockers are supposed to been run on shafts with Banana grooves... If run on standard shafts the oil flow is severely restricted...

And to think Crane told me something different lol...My shafts are NOT banana grooved.

Guys working the tech phone for Crane weren't alive when ductile rockers were commonly used....

Isn't there supposed to be an additional hole in the rocker that lines up with the hole in the shaft to shoot oil at the rocker tip?  Or is that on the pushrod side?  I know some rockers have holes on the top of the arm to leak oil down to the tip.  The Cranes should have those holes.

Mine have the oil holes above the pushrod and on top of the arm. Also, my instructions in the box from Crane mention nothing about having to run grooved shafts.

They all should have oil passages, but as far as lining up, well to be honest I've never owned Cranes, I've owned lots of Iskys & one set of original Mopar rockers... They all have a hole that intersects a  grooved channel in the rocker... But without the banana groove oiling can be spotty...

When you realize the rockers are fed through the #4 cam bearing & originally only get a brief spurt of oil every two crank revolutions when the passages in the cam & block are aligned it becomes apparent why so many guys have their preferred little tweaks to the oil supply to the rockers...

Personally I groove the #4 cam journal & use .040 restrictors in the oil passages to the heads... Along with Banana grooved shafts...
