Whomever you choose to buy from, buy it when you are close to being ready to install it. If you buy it and it sits on a stand for a year, you will likely have no warranty left when you fire it up.

Asking a serious question, is a stroker considered a race engine?

Thank you for your question.

In our current line up of Mopar engines, none of the strokers are considered race engines. We are not building race specific engines at this time. Our short blocks carry a 12 month warranty, parts only. Our long blocks and dressed all carry our 30 month/50,000 mile warranty.

Blueprints site says race engines have no warranty. Also, other engines that do come with a warranty are will have the warranty voided if engine is used outside it's intended purpose. Not bad mouthing, just pointing that out to ask more details if you do talk to them. I'd like to know if running at the track voids the warranty.

This is a great question.

We do not void the warranty if you take your street car to the track. We have customers who have run, and are running Drag Week and Rocky Mountain Race Week.

Because we are building street performance engines, they are warrantied for that purpose. We do not cover engines that are installed in race only applications.

With that being said, we are different from other companies in that if you have a problem with one of our engines, whether it is out of warranty by time, or installed in a race application, we never say, "Sorry. See you later." We will do what we can to help get your engine fixed and running again. Please call us first before tearing the engine apart, or taking it to your machine shop.

This is just common sense - but I've seen it happen. Warranties start when purchased not installed

ATK builds great engines.  I've seen them used on PowerNation TV.

Just spoke to Brian at IMM Engines in SoCal.  Seems like a straight-up guy.  He's doing a 318 pump-gas stroker (450hp, 480lbs) for MoparMuscle that he'll eventually be selling.  I was always thinking ofgoing with a 360 but those numbers are very impressive! 

Carolina Motor Engines has a 360 build for around $4300 which would be considerably less than the 318 stroker.

Anyone have any thoughts on which might be the better way to go?

Agreed... I built my 416 stroker as a street motor, the big dumb motor that could. Took a cam that would have been somewhat hot for a 340 and tamed it with the duration of the stroker crank to get what is a very streetable 500HP. a 408 pushing 460-480HP should be a really streetable build, with lots of torque to liven things up a bit at the stop lights

I wouldn't bother stroking the 318...

I think the 318 stroker will be more limited by cylinder heads and run out of breath sooner. I hope someone will build a 340 or 360 stroker with the new SB Trickflow heads. Like to see some numbers how it compares to the Airwolf heads that are no longer available.

Not sure on the price difference going to a stroker but a nice little 360 works pretty good for the dough too.
