Hey all, so here are the #s from the engine and transmission that was in my car when I got it - obviously not original.  But curious, isn't the engine VIN supposed to have 6 digits?

Also, the transmission is not original to the car, and has a transmission cooler installed which I am sure is not original either.  Am I correct the transmission stamp indicates 1970 Hamtramck?

You are correct.

On the engine, I think some of the numbers were not stamped deeply, and with the paint, are difficult to see.  I see some gaps in that number, and to me, it reads: 9B31_407 so I think I see 5 of the 6 digits.  A 1969 Hamtramck plant car.

On the tranny, that looks like: 0F167133, so its possibly from a 1970 Newark plant car.

did all of the 727s have trans cooler ports?  I assume that was never an e-body option?

yes, the two lines ran forward into the bottom of the radiator, where a cooler was integrated with the radiator in the bottom tank as standard on all cars.  I think it was only towing packages, (and maybe larger C-body cars) that got an external oil cooler.
