I have a 340 with a offenhauser port o Sonic single plane intake. This motor was supposedly built but it has 318 heads which confuses me.

Unless there is something I don't know why would someone use cast number 2843675 (1.78 intake/ 1.5 exhaust) heads on a 340?

I'm still getting into the motor so don't know any other info on cam or etc, but it does have 4.10 gears. I was looking into changing the top end with the Edelbrock rpm items or should I keep the manifold?

Are you sure you have a 340? Pictures on the sides of the engine?

Ugh your right I'm getting my engines and parts mixed up.  Just picked up a few and it was free so didn't even inspect it. Woops

Those Porto-sonics were highly regarded in the day. I think I would try it it just to be different.

I agree , you may find the intake works quite well

What's a 318 in good shape run price wise? I have no need for this. Would rather it help fund my 360 or 340 build.

Unfortunately not much these days, many couple hundred bucks is all.

Not many looking for the 318 , if you are building you would start with a virtually free 360 or swap in a modern Hemi

Lol I'd take a few hundred...I have a 340 and a  360 sitting around but I've always wanted to do a modern hemi swap.
