This is a fairly new build. Total runtime is maybe an hour. Engine just all of a sudden decided that it didn't want to start. Fuel is good. Original dual point distributor, points are set correctly, new rotor and cap.

Coil and resistor are hot to the touch.

Video of number three plug. https://forum.e-bodies.org/gallery/;sa=view;id=348

Thanks for the help.....

Watch the spark.  It does not look like it's firing all the time?     Fires, Fires, skips, Fires, skips, skips...  I think that might be your answer.  Issue with the distributor?

In the video that @Aar1064 posted it's a little easier to see the spark.  But when I converted it to MP4 to play in the post it lost some of the ease of seeing the spark.  But I'm still thinking this might be a spark issue?

I see the spark is very weak... I hear that theres no compression on one cylinder.....

First off you are running rich, that may be because you are not getting spark.

Check the resistance on the coil, ballast resistor and wires. This should point at the culprit.

What's the timing set at?

Timing isn't set yet. We worked a while back with trying to set distributor to where it wouldn't hit the oil pressure switch (remember?) and then I had issues with carbs leaking so sent them for repair and  I just put them on again today and tried to start.  Distributor has been out, and gear shaft was moved around a bit.

I rebuilt distributor and it's been on a machine for adjustments. That's not really saying much but they are pretty simple to tear down and rebuild unless I'm missing something.

Could that be because the plug is out?

Just to be sure  resistance between positive and negative on the coil? I've checked wires and they are good?

Yeah, unfortunately quality parts.... In the past five years I've seen an awful lot of bad condensers brand new right out of the box......

And you still have no compression on one cylinder.....  That could be a problem.... Unless it's missing it's spark plug...

I think you're on to it.  You need to get the timing set. I'm thinking that might be the issue.....  but it might be more then one thing?   :notsure:

Correct.

The coil should be around 1.3 to 1.7 ohms
The ballast should be at 1.2 ohms
You stated your wires are correct to manufacturers specs.

Got to  ask, when you re-installed  the distributor did you put in correctly. Maybe 180 degrees off?
