Has anybody installed one of the carb heat shields before, like the Holley one for example? Did you find it brought the carb temp down, especially on a shaker hood?

Rich G.

I have a heat shield from Cool Carb on my 51 pick up with a 400 Mopar engine. Can't really say what it does but I've never had a heat or fuel issue with it.

Either the top one or the Coolcarb spacer will decrease temps , you will want to use thin gaskets with the top one to prevent the Shaker bubble getting too close to the hood , the Coolcarb spacer is is only 3.16 " thick , they reduce temps by 50-75* . The top sheet metal one will reflect a lot of heat also & act as a heat sink increasing surface area to disapate heat & willconduct less heat to the carb using the gasket as an insulator .
Shaker hoods can have issues with heat trapped it doesn't work well with newer & ethanol fuels for sure .

I would estimate you may have about 3/16"-1/4" of height to play with before you get into trouble with the shaker/hood clearance. :alan2cents:
I agree with Mr. Psycho that the shaker itself can retain a lot of the heat, that's why a lot of people remove the hot/cold air doors from inside the bubble to create better air flow. :bigthumb:
I've taught you everything you know....but I haven't taught you everything I know....
