I am changing the transmission mount on my '74 today or at least trying. I have it all apart but my bolt that goes through the mount seems a hair big. The threaded portion fits in and then it stops. I have never done one of these before. Do you lube it and drive it in with a hammer or do I have the wrong bolt? TIA

I don't remember anything like that when I installed mine.
Is it the original bolt? Any trouble getting it out?
I seem to recall the bolt had an unthreaded end 1/4" or so before threads started. I do not recall that the shoulder of the bolt behind the threads was larger in diameter than the threads.
There is some issues with aftermarket mounts - I had issues with motor mounts with 1/2" NC studs instead of NF.
If that helps...

Can you post a picture so we know which bolt?

It's the large bolt that goes through the center. I ended up drilling it a little so now the bolt fits. Put it back together tomorrow. Thanks guys

You're working with a cheap Taiwanese replacement mount. I've gone through this several times before. I used a large 1/2" drill bit and ran it through the mount.....major pain in the ass.  :headbang:

I would try a different brand of mount.. :alan2cents:
I've taught you everything you know....but I haven't taught you everything I know....

Yes, aftermarket parts seem like they just don't get it right most of the time!
