I drove it around after removing 2 quarts. No leak. I think I'll put this on the bucket list.

It doesn't sound too critical then. Yes, what I do is drop the tank down about 6 inches onto some wood blocks and leave the filler tube connected to the 1/4 panel. It's still a pain pulling the valance, unhooking the sending unit etc.

Use Vaseline. Lube is good.

The tube slides right in easier.
