So I might have an opportunity at several 426 wedges with ram tunnels.  never punched.
I have no idea what they came in originally.
I have no idea on value of said items.
What can yal tell me please.

Get photos of the engines, especially the pad to the left of the distributor....   Could be a street wedge, could be a Max Wedge... By Ram Tunnel I'm guessing you mean Tunnel Ram.... Now if your talking Cross Ram that changes things & the $$$ went up considerably....

Get photos...

The 426 or 413 wedge, are no big deal now days, but if they are cross ram with the stage three heads they hard to find. The old stuff will sell if you have someone trying to do a resto on the older cars or street rods.  Buy them if its a good deal.   Mopar build 10 million 440 and 5 million 383. I rather have a 440 anyday over a 426 wedge.  :burnout:

Max wedge with cross rams and heads. Virgin Blocks.     That's all I know at this moment.  Will know more after a few more conversations.

There is also a 499 cubic inch roller motor with all high performance race parts, minus heads.    runs on 93 octane.

So what are some ideas on value for a max wedge with heads and cross rams?

And I have not played with high performance motors for racing.  Any idea of price on a 499?

The 499 would be valued at half to 2/3 the cost of building it likely. The true Max Wedge stuff can be valued differently depending on exactly what date it was, which carbs, which casting #'s etc. Some stuff is harder to find than other stuff. To get a true value you would need a detailed list of each casting # and date on everything. It's just like Hemi stuff, maybe a 1968 Hemi block, heads and intake are worth $20k but if it comes with the correct carbs, distributor, pulleys and brackets it can become $30k in the blink of an eye.
I could only hazard an inaccurate guess but maybe roughly $10k for a complete max wedge block, heads and intake assembly and I'm sure that would be on the low side for a lot of them.

But wait... I just heard       "The 426 or 413 wedge, are no big deal now days,"   Guess it depends on who your talking to....  Guess that means I want to buy from halftrackman & sell to someone that still likes Max Wedges.....

Oh, BTW I agree with Sheldon...

Well I don't have any of the early cars that would have come with these engines.  So I'm not looking to buy one to put into a car.
I would rather them go to someone who has a passion for their year of car and their specific engine.

I am always "hunting" for the next buy.  sometimes for me, sometimes for the next guy.
There is a collection that I am going to end up going to look at.  The fella is elderly and not in the best of shape and he wants things to go to people who will either enjoy them or put them in the hands of someone who will.

I would hope that I could somehow come out on the plus side and then try to buy a Hemi for one of my 70's.  Dreaming of course.

10K is a pretty high  "low value" on a block.  That's a whole other world.

I'm used to trying to find T/A blocks at 5K.   So I'm a little out of my guppy pool here.

It comes back to getting pictures & once you have them the guy who seems to really know these motors is Scott (Harms) so you might want to PM him or give him a call... Let me know if you need his number....

RUNCHARGER

You could get into a world of financial hurt in a hurry not knowing what you are buying. Lots and lots of "Max Wedge" stuff is 413's out of station wagons. $10k is probably realistic for a real engine but $200 is too much for a New Yorker 413. A lot of true Max Wedge and Hemi stuff is used up Racer junk that is unusable too. So you really have to educate yourself or rely on someone that knows their stuff.

I will Pm him first and see if he is willing to give out some information.  Thanks!

That's what I'm definitely afraid of.

Well I did not say a max wedge were no big deal, I said  413 426   were not a big deal, I am  talking about a 4 barrel engines, If you got a engine  and  someone  has a body needing a engine, very good.  I sure hope some folks can make some money off the old stuff, I sure the hell could not.
