Is there a thread on Starter and Alternator Date Codes?

I must be searching wrong. I'd have sworn there was a thread on the date codes and part numbers for starters and alternators. I'm currently talking to a far away owner of some and am growing suspicious of what I'm seeing in photos. I'd like to be very sure before pulling the trigger on cores for my 11/4/69 SPD 440. If anyone could drop a link or some info, I'd appreciate it. Again, sorry for not being able to search it successfully.
