This is something that I have been trying to confirm for a few years.

The 360 in my Cuda is out of a 1980 New Yorker (PO installed it).

Ehne I rebuilt in back in highschool, we redid the cam shaft berinng and we found that one ofhte bearing races was a difernt size for the early 360 block.  I forget how we found this our (could have been the Mitchel manual for it could have ben my shop teacher).  Either way it alywas stuck with me that ther was a differcen in the 1908 block.

looking thought some of the cam bearing option, Jegs lsits seoerat part numbers for the •1957-1978  and •1979-2003 LA blocks.

It does not say what the diofferneces are.

How ever when I search for Cam shafts, the part numbers for a 1980 New Yorker and a 74 Cuda are the same.

Does anyone know if there was change in 1979 to the 360 blocks?

I am thinking of changing cams, but don't want to order one, pull it a part find they are different and then not be able to find a performance cam that fits.

Thanks,

Jason

I don't believe there is a difference, I think they are the same till maybe the magnum engines came along, I never really got to play with those.

Jas, I can't speak to the differing cam bearing sizes, but when I ordered my roller cam from Lunati, they explained that the Magnum cams had a shorter nose as they have no fuel pump cam lobe as the LA's do. They would/will make you a mixed application if you want it, but that'd be if you were going with the Magnum timing cover that has no pump opening. Call Harold at Engines from Hal in Guelph @ 5one9-767-153two. He's a good machinist and knows his stuff. Tell him I recommended him; he'll treat you right.  :bigthumb:
