Hey guys,

I'm fairly certain I know the answer but just wanted confirmation.  The long alternator bold that goes into the head on a 340 doesn't need sealant does it?  Thanks

No but with your luck, you might want to seal it up anyways  :D

HA HA HA - I deserved that.   :haha:

When I took the water pump off the gasket was pretty mangled.  So I'm hoping that's the fix.

Chryco Psycho

It is a blind hole from the factory so no ... Unless someone has drilled into the hole which I have actually seen .
I bet the gasket was the issue , not sure how you got it squeezed out like that !!

It was my fault it was late, I rushed it and cut corners, didn't take the A/C compressor off, etc., and forced it in there the bolt holes weren't exactly lined up with the gasket so I ended up forcing them in and I'm sure tore the paper gasket when I did it.

So I take full responsibility.  I've taken everything off and I'm doing it right.   :ohyeah:

Doing it right the first time is Always cheaper & faster then taking short cuts & doing it twice !!

So I got is all together, filled it last night and so far 24 hours later no leaks.   :ohyeah:  Thanks everyone for their help.
