max safe rpm and economical rev limiter

Ok...i had a 1972 360 LA engine, bored and stroked with Scat Stroker kit.   Lunati 703 Cam and matching dual spring valvetrain with "273" adjustable rockers. 

This is a street engine in my 74 Challenger, with 3.23 suregrip and 14" (25" tall) wheel and tire combo.   It is also running an A518 automatic with 2500 rpm stall speed locking converter. 

Two questions:

First, What is a "safe" redline for that engine??   5500 ? 6000? 6500? 7000? 

Reason i ask it that the A518 with a transgo Jr shift improver kit will auto shift floored at only about 4,000 rpm for the 1-2 shift.   So for a flat out run (occassional) i hold it in first then hit the slapstick shifter to allow it to shift to second and the shift is a little slow.   I want max performance but sure don't want to blow the engine.   1-2 shift is a little slow and i sure don't want to blow the engine.   So that if i hit it at 5500 it probably will hit 6,000 before solid shift into 2nd.    Is this safe, could i go higher...the engine isnt showing any signs of falling off yet.   

Second, it currently has the standard Mopar Orange box Electronic ignition system.   What is an economical replacement with a rev limiter i could set to be safe?

^^ Similar setup.. 74 Chally with a mild 360LA.

I installed a HEI dizzy and replaced the stock cap, coil and ignition module with PerTronix Flame-Thrower HEI III setup. The PerTronix ignition module has a rev limiter built in. Cleaned up the starting, idle and throttle response over the stock Mopar quite noticeably.

Rev_N_nator has adjustable rev limiter build in and consistent spark at high RPM. Stock form factor and takes the stock wire connection.

I have one in my storage. Took it out when change to EFI and running MSD now. It does not have multi-spark but a lot better than the remanufactured Mopar ECU. I felt the difference after install just like they advertised.

Cast or forged crank, is the assembly fully balanced? I spun my stock stroke forged crank 340 to well over 7000 but with yours being a stroker I probably wouldn`t go over 6500 but depends on how it`s biult.

My 416 stroker forged rotating assemblies was dynoed to about 5800 RPM and HP starts flatten and going down. Peak power at 5500. Yours might be different but I don't think you need to rev much pass 6000 for a stroker motor. Piston speed is higher in a stroker engine than stock stroked 340. I have yet to go pass 5000 with mine.

Without knowing any more about your engine I would suggest 5000-5500 as well.
It depends on a lot of stuff, crank, rods, clearances, oil pump, oil passage mods etc.

Crankshaft is Cast Steel...Scat 9-360-4000-6123
Rods are Scat 2-ICR6123-2124 I BEAM
Pistons are ICON Forged pistons IC745-30

Given the build , lunati cam & matched valve springs balanced rotating assy with forged pistons you should be fine at 6000 , beyond that you are needlessly beating up parts IMO

Thanks Chryco...   i agree...  need to get a rev limiter...   as it revs way to fast to trust myself not to over rev.
