Well I do have a brand new gear set that has been sitting in a box for a couple years maybe I should just put that in. Im really not concerned about the open carrier on it Posi or not really makes no difference to me.

The yoke does have some grooving from the seal is that a concern?

can you catch a fingernail on it?

if you have access to a lathe that will polish out easily..

Mopar5

Fingernail won't catch in but almost . I don't have a lathe .A new yoke is 70.00 not too much

Where in California are you? I have a lathe & would be happy to do a quick polish on it...

Mopar5

I'm in Concord Ca so we have a few miles between us

Mopar5

That's too bad because I sure would like your help

You can get a seal saver at your local auto parts store to repair that pinion. They are about half the cost of a new pinion. I would not reuse the 1 you have, with repairing it as you risk another leak...

Hi John appreciate it ,but at this point I'm going to do a complete rebuild instead of just a seal. It's just a golden learning opportunity and if I fail I will just buy a whole unit set up from Dr.Diff . But failure for me is something I don't accept readily  ,So I'm going to give it my best shot or however many shots it takes.
