QuickTime bellhousing bolt hole oil leak?

I have a QuickTime bellhousing on my 440 with 833 trans. There is an unoccupied bolt hole on the passenger side above the hole used for the transmission mating. Looks like oil is slowly coming out of that hole, is that possible? See pic below, I added dye to trace the minor leak I have. It's dry above this hole so doesn't seem like it's dropping down from above. Any ideas?

Chryco Psycho

could it be slinging oil from the rear main seal ?

Ugh I have no idea and hope not, this engine has been leaking all over since being rebuilt and only has 250 miles on it! Just got some ripping apart the front end to replace the front crank seal.

Well if it's not coming from outside the bell housing, I think Chryco is probably right. I am running a QuickTime and they are so sealed up I actually drilled a 1/8" hole in the very bottom to catch a leak early if I have an issue with the rear seal and don't want to get the clutch sprayed with oil.

Why is there not a bolt in the hole? Maybe install a bolt to see if it stops. Could there be an oil galley where a bolt broke though at some point :notsure:

It's been sitting over night and seems like it's leaked more. Source definitely seems like that hole, you can see the path it trickles down.

No bolt because it doesn't line up with any bolts on the transmission. It's not threaded either so thinking about cleaning real well and filling with epoxy? Or is that a bad idea? Going to try to get under it this weekend to get a better look.

Don't epoxy it!

There's no place on the mounting flange for the bell housing that would be the source of the leak. Meaning, the leak is coming from somewhere else and is just happens to be dripping out through that hole. If you epoxy the hole it won't stop the source of the leak, so oil will still be leaking from whatever the source is and will just find somewhere else to drip out from.

That hole is probably an alignment hole for the pin at the back of block, one on each side. I have similar leaks and  it's usually the valve cover that leaks and runs down the block. Take your finger and run it under the valve cover lip (when cold) at the lower left end to see if it is wet.

Ok thanks guys, going to do some investigating

Did you find the leak?

I might of - I changed valve cover gaskets and took it for a ride and it dripped a lot less. Thinking it may have been residual that already leaked and I didn't clean up. Still need to get it up on a lift and take a better look. It's due for an oil change anyways.
