Shaker air filters that work

I recently bought this Summit flat top flow through air cleaner lid (https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-239500)  to use with my shaker hood to increase airflow to the carb ("U" code engine-single carb).  However, when trying to use the Summit flat top lid with the stock height paper air filter, 2 3/4",  the Shaker bubble won't seat on the shaker base.  So I was checking Summit for a shorter, similar type reusable, air filter and I'm having trouble finding one.  Even though the original shaker and the Summit air cleaner lids are 14" outside diameter, the air filter element itself is only 12 7/8" outside diameter, which seems weird, but whatever, it is what it is.  When checking the reusable filters on Summit they all have 14" outside diameters, not 12 7/8" diameters.  So my question is will these 14" elements work with the shaker base or has anybody found a reusable filter that has an outside diameter of 12 7/8s" what will work with either the stock shaker hood air cleaner lid or one like the Summit flat top lid as shown?  :help:

In the past I have cut filters & overlapped the media & siliconed the seam so you may be able to use a 14" filter & make it smaller to work.

I run a Fram CA 306 Filter on my shaker setup. Here's some photos. It's a 1971 stock 340 shaker setup and uses the standard filter.

Sorry. Looks like it's a Fram CA 305. I can't get to my car right now so I can't check.

Thanks 71vert340.  I'm pretty sure that's the same filter I'm running.  However, when using the Summit flat top flow top instead of the OEM metal top, my Shaker bubble will not seat on the base.  So I was wondering if anybody has found a 12 7/8" reusable, flow through air filter element that is shorter than the stock paper element filter?  So far every reusable flow through air filter I've found is 14" in diameter instead of 12 7/8".

I was just wondering, since both the stock metal lid and the Summit flat top flow through lid both measure 14" in diameter, is there any reason a 14" filter element wouldn't work with a Shaker base   Is anybody running a 14" element on a shaker hood setup?  :help:

Would a 14 inch air filter sit on top of the shaker base raised outer edge? If I remember right, the stock filter outside diameter sits right up against the lip on the shaker baseplate. If it sits on top of that lip, it would be 3/8" higher. In my 71 Hardtop, there's a reusable filter in it and it is substantially thicker (more height) than the stock filter in my shaker. With a taller filter and if it's sitting on top of the baseplate lip, the shaker bubble probably doesn't sit on baseplate flange. I don't know of a reusable filter that is short in height. I wish I could help.
