Installed the starter motor on the engine of my 70 Cuda with 340.  I have a new Ram flywheel, original starter motor, and original bell housing.  Noticed that there is not much clearance between the end of the starter motor gear and the edge of the teeth of the flywheel.  A .006 to .007 inch thick feeler gauge will fit between the two gears.  I rotated the engine over by hand, and there was always this amount of clearance.  This seems a little tight, so I thought I would ask the experts.  What is the typical amount of clearance between the starter motor gear and the flywheel gear?  Anybody in a position to measure what clearance you have on your engine?
Thanks for the help.

it is virtually impossble for the flywheel to move in a radial direction so if it doesn't touch you are fine , .007 is lots IMO

Thanks for the reply.  I'll cross this one off my list!
