Hey guys,

I need to splice in my old stock electronic distributor to my new distributor and the wire colors on each are different.

The one on the old distributor are yellow and black and the ones on the new one are red and black.

1. On the old distributor what are the white and black wires for?
2. Can I splice the black to black and white to red?

It's not letting us see the photos?

The distributor wires should have a one way plug on it so they only can be connector one way?  Right?

Daveh

Correct.  Just trying to figure out which wire is for what.  Thanks

Daveh

Let's try again.

Good job marking how the distributor lines up.   :clapping:

As for the color of the wires, does this help (red wire in the photo looks orange, but it is red).

I called Pertronix and here is what I found out about the wiring .  The stock Mopar connector isn't used any longer in this application.

Here is where the Pertronix wires coming from the new distributor go:

Red wire - Goes to a hot ignition source
Black wire - Goes to the coil negative.

Sound about right?

Thanks
Dave

Daveh

Is one of the yellow or black the hot for the ignition?

Cuda Cody

I'm not running any car with Pertronix right now so I can't look to double check.  When I did have one on a car it worked great.  If I recall, @Chryco Psycho  has installed a few of them.

These are some instruction for the Mopar electronic ignition in case it helps?   :notsure:

Chryco Psycho

Well Pertronics is not my favorite , too many failures
the big no no is never connect the red wire to the + coil terminal it ony has 7v & the unit will fail you must connect to the blue wire feeding the ballast & voltage reg or alt field
