If a 383 is stroked, I'm assuming that it should have an intake thats taller than stock so a Shaker can't be used ?  I'm guessing you could use a stock intake, but your defeating what your wanting out of a stroker ?

Yes & no , there are a lot of advantages to a stroker such as more TQ & &7 lbs less rotating mass so it will rev faster , the stock intake can be ported , or the Holley Street Dom sits very low & flows well especially ported so with a bit of tweaking I can see a Street Dom being made to work , you may have to make adjustments to the shaker base but 1/2 - 3/4 " should work .
