Vapor separator

Would A bad vapor separator cause fuel delivery problems?  I have a 73 challenger with the vapor separator at the gas tank . Is there some kind of mechanism inside the separator that goes bad?

There's a ball bearing check valve, could be rusted shut.

I removed  the vapor separator is there a test or a check that I can do to make sure it's functioning properly ?

Perhaps an E-Vap smoke machine.

You could use a vacuum gauge, but I just blew/sucked to see that air was forced through.
