So what do you guys like for trans fluid on a fresh rebuild.

I am just about to start assembly of an A-500 for my cuda.

I have heard synthetic so I am leaning that way right now.

518/500 needs ATF-4, it's synthetic

So an A500 would use different fluid compared to a 727?

I would go with the manufacture recommendations   or at least the company that rebuilt it for you. That way if something goes wrong, you have a direction to point. :alan2cents:

Well that would be me!  If shit goes wrong its on me.

I figured I would ask, and I am glad I did.

You can check the vehicle it came out, usually a car or van 90-93
I have a 518 out of a 93 can, ATF-4.

I thought you were referring to your 727.  Yes your Dakota would be ATF+4 assuming a automatic.

Well hell!  ATF+4 seems hard to find around here.

All my local Canadian Tire Stores are sold out of their house brand

I found a Multi vehicle fluid that says it exceeds ATF+4 requirements but I have never heard of this brand before. I only bought a quart for now.

What do you guys think, should I use this brand or find some ATF+4?

You came this far, I'd get the ATF-4.
Walmart near you?  That's where I always get mine.

Ohhh Walmart, I never think of them for these types of things. Not a fan of them really, but I will check them out.
