The two pipes coming out of the firewall are for the evaporator. I would cap them simply to keep dirt and grime out. Takes very little effort and if you or a new owner ever decide to add the AC components, it will make for less work.

hello all, removed the ac components, can i remove this hose assembly and just run new straight hoses?

73TopBanana

good morning,

ok so these photos show the pulleys after removing the ac components. do i have to install a new crank pulley for the power steering belt?

Next question, forgot to tag the alternator wires, which brown clip attaches to the alternator?

thanks all

sorry am struggling on how to post pictures

Yes but you'll likely get continuous hot air it the car with no way the control it.

In my opinion, like I suggested. You should buy two new pulleys and alternator brackets and set it up like in the photos I posted earlier .

Yes, have the brackets, will get the 2 pulleys.

which of those 2 brown plugs go to alternator?

thanks and have a good day

anlauto

With the existing belts and pulleys you might be able to make something work with what you have. It looks like the fan lines up to the PS pump, maybe you could run those two together off of the crank, then run the alternator off just the crank ???? :dunno:

Personally I would get the proper stuff.

The alternator should have one large power wire and one green wire and one blue wire plugged on the back

yes, agree, will get the proper stuff and keep the old in case want to go back to AC.

Could you tell me what the single brown plug and the double ground plug are for?

unfortunately i did not label them.

thanks

I have a brown wire in alternator loom, but it goes to the windshield washer pump plug by the charcoal canister...

I do not have a double-black wire connector... was that possibly for the AC compressor? Mine did not have AC...

Like Alan said, should be one larger wire (black, according to schematic) going to the B ring terminal on alternator, and a blue wire and a green wire going to the two spade Field terminals on the alternator.

Best way to find out is trace them back to firewall connector pin origin... or wherever they come from...

If you don't have service manual, this may help.... http://www.mymopar.com/72to76_wiring.htm  Refer to schematic A for engine bay wiring...
