2.5 vs 3" exhaust

I know the shops in my area, the exhaust 2-1/2 and 3inch size is the same price, my father just had it done..  if you have the room I say do it, your not going to hurt performance,  the sound effect is better as well..

Larger diameter pipes excell in the top end, Power peaks at high rpms. Smaller, Peak on the low & midrange. Larger pipes will just make more noise.Depends on how you really intend to drive it. Few people drive their cars at the engines peak rpm.
