Any leads on getting my original muffler heat shields re-galvanized? Some light surface rust and what appears to be a previous rattle can black paint has me looking for a way to rejuvenate these. Any help appreciated.

They were stamped from galvanized sheet.  They weren't galvanized after they were stamped.  If the galvanizing is gone, there isn't much you can do.  You can soak them in EvapoRust but it looks like there is pretty heavy rust.  Soaking galvanized metal in EvapoRust will clean and brighten the galvanizing if you only soak it for a short amount of time.  Leave it in too long and it will remove the galvanizing.

By the looks of them, I'd soak them in EvapoRust and see what they look like when they come out.  Reproductions are available but they don't have the same "large speck" look to them.(not sure what the technical term for that is)  The reproductions have a "small speck" finish.

Mine are similar.  I plan on stripping them, and painting with silver VHT high heat header paint.  This stuff works well if you cure it, so I will bake them in the gas BBQ to cure the paint.  Not original, but nothing much on this car will be anymore.

Just an FYI, these were installed BEFORE the undercoating was sprayed on fully undercoated cars.  If your car is getting full underbody undercoating, it doesn't really matter if the galvanizing still looks good.  It will get covered in undercoating anyway.

Mine looked a lot like yours when I started. Luckily, my car is a factory undercoat car so all I did was media blast them, paint black epoxy, install them, and undercoated them. There is some paint that mimics the galvanized color and that may work. Really can't see them much once the mufflers are installed.
