Any other table tennis (ping pong) players here?

So anyone that knows me most likely knows I HATE winter (and probably sick of hearing me say that  ) and so I get pretty bored when the cold weather hits. While cleaning the cellar the other day I ran across a box of ping pong paddles and balls, the table was junked years ago as it was in bad shape, and so I thought maybe that would be fun to do. I went on FB and found a local group that recently started up and decided to try it. I`ve only been going for two weeks but it`s a lot of fun and even some good exercise. There are some really good players there but also some intermediate ones that I can almost compete with. I only ever played with family and friends before and haven`t played in probably 25 years so hopefully I`ll improve after a few months.

Good for you Jeff. Years ago I played a bit of badminton at a club but never played long enough to get any good at it. It was fun, maybe I should take it up again.

Ping pong and pool. We had both in the basement growing up so I love both.  Sadly, all the pool halls (5 of them) that I played at over the years have closed except for one which is a 20 minute drive now.   

I'd join ya for ping pong if we were closer.

My friend and i play pong in his basement and thinking we were pretty good, I found a ping-pong club in the next town.  Let's just say, those guys ... were on another level. It was a humbling experience and I have't been back, yet. 

But you're right - you can really work up a sweat playing pong. Its a lot of fun. Good for the reflexes and eye/hand coordination.

Not very good at ping pong but I have good hand eye coordination so probably compete with the average.  Winter in Michigan is long and cold so I play billiards and bowling on leagues to pass the days.  Working on the cars in between my daily job  . . Thankful my attached garage is heated!

I had one of the "expert" players teaching me some better technique this past Thursday night, hopefully I`ll keep improving as he can almost skunk me now. Sad thing is he said he gets beat by Chinese kids 8-9 years old, over in China some kids start playing at 3-4 years old.
