Rat rod truck before they were cool.
Directed by Steven Spielberg 1971. Wasn't close to driving yet, but what a great movie back then!

One of the Best Movie of the Week shows.  A classic in itself directed by Steven Spielberg.

Funny I just watched this about 2 months ago.

I saw the movie as a kid and was quite fascinated by it!
A few years ago, I was thinking about Duel, and went on eBay and found a DVD for cheap for my movie collection.
One of the rigs from the movie still survives.  Imagine parking this in your suburban driveway!

Steven Spielberg directed the film. Always creative in his plot twists and drama.

Having driven semi I can tell you those old trucks were pretty slow. That Valiant should have been able to run away and hide from the truck. It's all good though.

:haha: Come on Sheldon it wasn't a documentary  :pokeeye:
Like most movies or TV shows, sometimes it gets over the top and just silly, but we watch anyway.
That old truck could of been a sleeper, kinda like "the farm truck".

I first saw that movie when I was a kid and I remember being fascinated by it too. I don't know how many times the Dennis Weaver and the Valiant eluded the truck but he always made the mistake of stopping somewhere and eventually the truck caught up ... and if necessary waited for him.

For some reason the scene that I always remember with this movie is where he see's the truck waiting for him. He gets in his car and is waiting to see what the truck is going to do. Then the truck driver creepily sticks his arm out the window and waves him on encouraging him to go for it. I would have blasted off in the opposite direction myself!!  :burnout:
Cheers!

Tis' better to have owned classic Mopars and lost than to have never owned at all (apologies to Alfred Lord Tennyson)
