While looking for some info in an older Motor Manual , got to thinking about all the different names for automatic transmissions.

Buick has some good names.

Always thought that GM kept the 2 speed power glide way to long after other manufacturers had already gone to 3 speed automatics.  They were still selling that slush box in the early 70's

I had a 56 Buick Special back in the early 70's and it had a Dynaflow trans. You could hear it whine and whistle.
Damn that car was a TANK. The front bumper alone probably weighed more than a new F-150 truck. The last day I owned it I was pulling in the front of my house and the brakes went and I hit a parked 1973 Mercury Monteray. The Merc was almost totaled and my Buick only had a small scratch on one of the bullets on the front bumper. Attached is a photo of a 56 Buick for those of you two young to know what they looked like.

Those 56 Buicks are sharp rides, I check the prices once in a while looking for one.
