So I went to a local cruise in today and sat next to some Nilsson . . Not that I knew what it was.  But I tell you it was like my car was invisible . .  The attention it got was unbelievable . . Is this where the hobby is headed, clearly it is . .
Drive it like you stole it . . . And they're CHASING you!

I will say that I saw a dark blue mustang pull in and it was pretty cool . . Didn't get a pic of it but seriously bad ass from the front anyways.  God help me . . .  :worship:  There were a couple hellcats that I saw, 5 ebodies total, not bad for this show.

My buddy brings his 2016 Hellcat to Cars and Coffee (roughly 100 cars at a given show, in all ages and makes) and gets a lot of visitors. It's the "instant gratification" generation.

Last couple of local Mustang Club shows I attended the field was 90% 80's & up with probably 75% 2005 & up ...   :bye:

Hellcats are so common around here I even seen a few winter driven.  My neighbour , she drives a new T/A Challenger years round.

This show is weekly and weather permitting . . is amazing.  Hundreds of cars.  I sat next to my car and the amount of people that looked at that car and didn't give the hardtop a second look was astonishing . . I feel this is where we are headed.  How many people do you know that have traded in their classic for new muscle?   Sad days. . .

I feel it has always kinda been that way. I graduated high school in '73 and was definitely not interested in a 20 year old car let alone 50 year old one. It is hard to compete with modern technology and what I see is that todays youth are spoiled to get new cars so they never get to know the car history so don't appreciate it.

Will those cars be showing up 50 years from now ? Think how hard it is to replace wiring harness in our cars that's been devastated by mice and old age rot.

I wonder how much of it has to do with exposure. I think even with the new Challengers that everyone has seen nowadays, the older ones are just not as well known.  How many kids have seen a '70 cuda or Challenger going down the road, or parked at a store.

Performance wise, its hard to compete with new technology.  Looks-wise I'll take old over new.

But yeah its crazy to see how many new cars i see at car shows.  Carlisle was a good example this year and last.

Hmmm not sure I follow how being drawn to a brand new 770hp top of the food chain vehicle is result of needing "instant gratification".

Ive been in the sport my whole life and I'll tell you I'd be drawn to look over a Hellcat or a new Demon more than old iron because I've seen the old stuff and am already familiar with it.  I have less exposure to the new stuff so I'm still curious about it.

For ME !!   A car show is for classic cars...period.

If you want to look an a new Challenger SRT or Hellcat...go to your local Dodge Dealer...they have them EVERY day.   If you want to look at a new Mustang go to your Ford Dealers...   Whats the point in bringing them to a car show ?

I'm with chargerdon. I like the new cars,  but when I go to a car show,  I'm there for the classics. All makes.

Exactly! I will stop and check out certain newer cars but most I`ll just walk on by. I go to a monthly Cars and Coffee that has 3-400 cars and probably 75% of them are newer ones. A lot of big dollar "rich kids" type imports and european exotics that everybody flocks to while only a small number check out the older stuff. I also belong to a musclecar club which has grown to over 7,000 members in just a couple years and puts on great shows with 3-500 cars so I don`t think we are too old and going to be forgotten just yet but I do think we are slowly being outnumbered and fading from popularity with the masses.

By instant gratification I mean not having to restore it on their own. That takes years and patience. Otherwise, it's insert key and go.
