What is this car washing concept you speak of?  Cuda never gets washed.  Just damp cloth, spray detailer and wax.

One thing you could do is buy a gallon or two of DI water, wash your hood and rinse with the DI water to see if it really makes a difference versus your tap water before spending that much.

Wow, I can buy the same thing on the Amazon for about $80 with the 20% off coupon they are showing.  Regular price is $99.

I never wash mine either. Spot treat or damp cloth only. T ya

@dodj I don't wash my classics. The SXT and Rebel I do. On the classics it's the California duster first and then damp microfibre followed by dry microfibre.

Wow, I can't believe how many people don't wash their cars!!! And presumably that means they don't enjoy/drive them 

I drive mine at least 3 times a week, mostly year round (Houston). And so I do wash it. I've not used ionized water but always interested in new ideas. I would really like one of the foaming tools but don't have a power washer to hook to it, and not sure how well just a water hose would foam.

Anyway, hope to see some useful feedback on this

Honestly, I use waterless wash from Adams then Griots 3-1 ceramic sealer spray

Hmmm. I get way too much crap on my car to go waterless. I go down highways, country roads, clouds of mosquitos, black flies....I'd be sanding down the finish...lol
That's not a lot of feedback though. How about everyone else? Use a hose or waterless? 
Find it hard to believe no one here has at least tried deionized water?

I'm also curious if the dionizer actually lets you air dry your car without leaving water spots.  That's a pretty bold claim in my opinion.
Anyway, I wash mine, but i dry it with my leaf blower.  I make it a point to not just blow the water off the paint, but to blow the water out from under the window trim and vinyl top trim.  A lot comes out.  So i think i would still blow dry it if i had the deionizer

I also use Griot's products, including their 3 in 1 Ceramic wax. It does a great job and lasts pretty long.

Oh I do drive it. Was on a three day run this past weekend. The back half got covered in spots from a tree I was parked near one night. Used black detailer in a spray bottle and a couple microfibre cloths to get it off. I still have to do the bugs on the front end. That I'll just do with water and a cloth.

Cuda has never been that dirty to just not hand wash with damp microfiber.  Other vehicles get washed including the Solitude 5th wheel.  Use chamois on the vehicles and just let the RV air dry.  Our water doesn't appear to be very hard so not much of an issue.  Might try my DI water experiment on the hood of the '21 Challenger since it is dark gray and would show spots easily.

To make DI water properly, the water should go through a carbon bed to remove the chlorine, then particulate filtration, then move to a reverse osmosis bed and finally the ion exchange beds to remove the ions. A lot of pumping and water pressure drops, waste water in the process. The pictures appears to be a filter with ion exchange beads. It won't last long before you the beads need to be regenerated.

DI water is very aggressive to leach out other material so might not be a good idea for washing car. If you are concern with watermarks, wash the car under shade and wipe off as soon as you done rinsing.

I also have not wash my Challenger the 12 years I have it. I pressure wash the underside and wheel well when I was rebuilding it.

Company that makes this says to wash the vehicle normally and only use the DI water for the final rinse. This would save on usage.  We are talking DI water on paint with a polymeric clearcoat.  I don't believe DI water would do anything to the surface particularly for the short duration and under no pressure.

The real question remains whether this is worth it and really works, or is more of a hoax.

Ya...I wasn't price shopping at the time just looking at availability...but we do get hosed on some things in Canada...so then I just order from the USA. Living 20 minutes from the Can/US border has it's advantages.
