Very few could cover the Beetles and do it better but Joe Cocker could!

Chryco, growing up in the 60's Wild Thing by the Troggs along with Gloria by Them were two of my favorites. And of course all the Beach Boys and Jan and Dean songs.
Check out the drum covers on You Tube by this little girl, absolutely amazing talent;

Speaking of Kenny Rodgers, after Johnny Cash released The Gambler in 1978, written by Don Shlitz, Kenny was prompted to do it as the the Cash version went nowhere on the charts.
Johnny Cash was not to happy about it, but Kenny Rodgers version also released in 1978 soared to #1 and Kenny was an instant star, never looking back.

No one can touch Freddy, but Marc can actually sing it pitch-for-pitch like it was recorded.

I love some Johnny Cash....but I had no idea until watching a Kenny Rogers documentary last night, that Johnny actually recorded "The Gambler" first...

Sorry, Johnny....but I think Kenny beat you on this one  :pokeeye:

Yes , along with you guys I did watch that great documentary last night and thus

But I do know that

If you had Johnny's Cash
and Charlie's Pride
You wouldn't have a Buck Owen

Not too many artists do a cover of their own song, both becoming hits.
Eric Clapton's 1970 version with Derek and the Dominos of Layla
was re-done by Clapton himself in 1992 as the (acoustic ) slow version.
