I was curious, I went to e bay typed in Cuda 1/18, then clicked on listed most expensive first and it was 16 listings before I came to one that was under $500 bucks!  3 PAGES of listings till they were under $300.  Seems more than one is smoking crack.....

At this rate I'll be able to sell off my collections and retire soon!

Oh ,  Yes , they're expensive, always have been  !!!   BYC  ( Back Yard Conversions)  performed/modified a special run ( maybe a couple runs) of customized 1:18 scale 1971 Hemi Cuda hardtops produced by Highway 61.  They modified the toy cars, transforming them into a caterpillar yellow convertibles, like the "real" nash bridges cars.  Not many were made. Years ago, LNIB versions were running between $500-$1000.  For quite some time now, the Nash Bridges shhows and cars were kind of out of sight, as there was a legal case about the show pending for a long time. More recently,  the legal case has been resolved between Johnson and Cruse?, Johnson being finally awarded several million from the show proceeds.  So now, the TV episodes have been released for showing again, a couple years ago, as with the release of DVD's, which has raised the public awareness of the show to a new generation, increasing the popularity of the show , and anything associated with the show, even the real cars themselves, and  I guess the associated toys as well.  For many years I had looked for this toy, and finally found one about ?3 years ago, I think I purchased one for about $300, although one or two things were wrong with the model ? broken viser, or something like that.  At that time, I couldn't see paying over $500 for a toy ?   In hind sight, maybe I should have ?  There were maybe 100-200 made?  In the past, I've read that this particular toy is one of the holy grails in the toy car world !!!    I had to get one of these 1:18 toys, as I own one of the real Nash Bridges Cuda's,  Nash #1.   Johnny Lightning also made a run of  ?1:64 Nash Bridges cars.

Some other semi-famous 1:18 cars that are more reasonably priced are the mopars featured in the movie Two Lane Blacktop.  A '70 Cuda and a '69 Daytona

When I was into collecting diecasts back around 2001, one of the cars I bought was a Nash Bridges 'cuda done by BYC, very similar to the one shown in the current auction. There was no Nash Bridges packaging but it was made to look like the car and I think they were only producing a very small number of them , less than 200. At the time, the diecast was very pricey at $150 and I think I kept it until around 2008 at which point I decided to list it on E-Bay. I got a few questions from potential bidders and at the end of the auction a bidding war ensued. Someone from Canada was battling it out with someone from Japan. I started the bid at around $150 and within a minute of auction close, I watched it go over $600. I believe the diecast ended up going to Canada.

Some sellers are just waiting for fool to come along. I saw an SCCA poster for sale on Kijiji this morning for $100. You can buy it on eBay for $25.
