People are nutz. I know where there is a lot nicer Mod Top than that car. 340, 4 speed, black and a perfect restoration.

Maybe whoever bought it wants to park it beside Steven's ModTop 70 Hemicuda :vipermanhiding: :vipermanhiding: :haha: :haha:

Interesting how a few of the added options have become 'authenticated' as the car has changed hands.

It is a legit purple/white/white 340 4-speed, believed to be N96, and the drivetrain is indeed numbers-matching.  Power top, console, dual painted mirrors.

Rallye dash and white stripes are two definite add-ons (which look great), but it was a standard dash car and with body side moulding.

I hope the new owner sees this thread  :)  Car still looks good after all these years... :worship:

I was just talking with a friend and he brought up something interesting. It seems that Peter Klutt bought this Cobra at the auction that Mecum owned for 2.4M. Two of the cars that Klutt ran through were the 1970 hemicuda convertible that sold at 1.98M and the 1971 Challenger 340 convertible that sold at 302k. Seems like the math is pretty close on this potential deal.

WOW...This must be a OUT OF THIS WORLD record for a 69 340 Cuda  :o $440K WTF ????

I was standing next to that guy when he bought it, he also bought two of the cut away motors, he spent about $1,000,000 on those three items...oh yea he was buying lots of Road Art the next morning also for big bucks. When the auction for the Mod Top was over the auctioneer said "lets get some more of that material and put it on all these cars".
