What did you guys have 'back in the day', do you still ride now?

While I've had quite a few myself, I'll just mention three:

1978 KE100, first bike, first mechanical thing I had. It was freedom, I rode it until it seized up.
1980 XR250, still my favorite bike, it was a tractor, you couldn't hurt it.
2001 KTM 300EXC, current bike, hard to believe its almost a 20 year old bike!

Dirtbikes got me into wrenching when I was a kid, & I still have a weakness for old enduros.

RUNCHARGER

1974 Yamaha DT250. I bought it new, I remember wrestling that thing and it was pretty heavy compared to the ones these days, also not much suspension travel. I just ride street bikes now.

I did a little motocross riding back in the early 70's with a 1972 Yamaha YZ125. Then I had 1975 Yamaha 400 Enduro. I then traded dirt for asphalt with a 1978 Yamaha 650 Special, a 1980 Yamaha 850 Special that I still have, and finally  a 2007 Harley Dyna Glide Custom that I just sold after putting a whopping 5500 miles on it in 13 years.

First time I rode my uncles mini bike I was hooked. At 15 I bought a Bridgestone 100, then a Yamaha enduro125 then I had street bikes off and on. My late 30`s  I got back into dirt bikes with a KDX250, `91 KX250, `99 KX250 and an `87 Can Am 500 ASE which I sold due to a bad back. I haven`t ridden in 15-16 years but been itching to bad so just got an `81 KDX420. I have two projects for riding it next spring to mechanically rebiuld the suspension and rebiuld my body so my back can handle riding it.

I currently have a 08 Yamaha WR450. I got a killer deal so I had to buy it.  $1500 and it only had 250 miles.  I unrestricted it and now it is a bad ass dirt bike.  It's a little too big and too powerful for tight trails.  But I dont ride much.  Only got out once this year in the dirt.  I usually prefer to ride the ice in winter.  This reminds me that I have to get rid of my old ice wheels and fenders from my 15' CRF450R that I sold last spring.   That was an awesome bike on the ice, just too much in the dirt for my experience.  I prefer to stick with road racing.

yup still have one, iv been riding since the late 60s and have always had at least one dirt bike, last year i bought my very first 4 stroke a ktm 520 and hated it, sold it and bought a 2001 CR 250, why? im 64 and i guess its called more guts than brains but Iv always loved the 2 stroke, being in AZ you can license anything for the road so I turned it into a duel sport. what a blast driving a dirt only bike on the road legally .

No photos, but I had and still have (in pieces) my 71? Maico 400 square barrel and it's younger brother a (I think) 73 porcupine Maico 400. That first 400 scared the beejeezus out of me a few times and getting it stuck in a bog in the afternoon of my first time meeting with my to-be mother and father in law, nearly did me in, but the old squarehead got me home in the nick of time, and 41 years of marriage later, I've still got the bikes and the girl.  :)

Amen to that👍
Two strokes rock! I started riding in the late 60's too. I'm 63, favorite bike was my '87 CR500. I rode that thing from 1990 to 2006, Hare Scrambles, Enduros, Hillclimbs. I loved that bike. Then for whatever reason, just stopped riding dirt.....still ride sportbikes though.

60 years ago when I was 6, Dad built a minibike for me to ride. 5hp engine. direct drive, push to start. Then I had a 100cc MotoBeta dirt bike (piece of shit). Then I bought an used Honda XL250. Changed cam, put header on it and geared it down so that top speed was about 45 and tried numerous times to kill myself riding in woods and at quarry. Then I turned 18 and started on street. Have been riding every single year since that first mini bike.  :D

three two barrels

Started off with a Motosceeter minibike, then Yamaha Enduro 80, Kawasaki KM 100, Honda CR 125, Honda XR 350, oh and a couple of three wheelers too. Had the most fun with the CR 125, bought it used and rode it hard!

Seems like many E-body guys had big 2-strokes!

YYZ

Lots of Yamaha YZ 250s back in the day -- the '83 was the best one, the '86 was rode hard and put away wet too many times

Yamaha XT550 Enduro which was a beast

And just for something different, an early '60s Jawa 350 twin which had been 'converted' for more off-road use...

I ride.

I own two Honda XR400's and an xr250 so I can convince people to ride with me.

I've got thousands of miles of trails right out side my front door.  I'm a big single track rider.  Where I live I can hit a single track trail from my garage and not see another human all day long. Some days I ride 100-140 miles a day without seeing anyone.

Here is a picture from this year on the rainbow trail.  Single track.  We had a big forest fire just outside of town and this is a spot that I stopped at in the middle of the fire path.
